People really don’t know what they have until it’s gone: Four months after the overthrow of the Supreme Court Roe v. calf and ended the nationwide abortion protection, support for abortion increased.

The number of Americans who say cancellation Legitimate is likely to be a whopping 66 percent, or two-thirds, of the country in all or most cases, accordingly to a new ABC News/Washington Post poll. That’s the highest number since 1995 – the first time the question was asked—and up to eight points since Aprilthat was before a draft overturn the opinion of the Supreme Court roe leaked.

The pollster, Langer Research Associates, called the increase “a striking result”. It said that women, including Republican women, were primarily responsible for the thrust. Support for legal abortion rose to 74 percent now from 62 percent of all women in April, with support for Republican women rising 15 percentage points to 43 percent. In states that voted for former President Donald Trump in 2020, the percentage of people supporting legality of abortion also rose 15 points to 63 percent.

(The poll was conducted between October 30 and November 2 among a random national sample of 1,005 adults, including 881 registered voters 75 percent reachable on their cell phones.)

A record proportion of Americans say abortion should be legal. Q: Do you think abortion should be legal in all cases, legal in most cases, illegal in most cases, or illegal in all cases?

Quiet, voters rated other issues as more important than the loss of abortion rights. According to the poll, 80 percent of likely voters said the economy is a top issue; 77 percent said inflation; 75 percent said education and schools; 74 percent named threats to democracy; 69 percent said crime; and 62 percent said abortion.

The Democrats could very well lose both the House and Senate despite this record abortion support; The party in power traditionally loses seats in Congress in midterm elections. But don’t let anyone tell you that abortion rights are unpopular or that Republicans have a mandate to ban abortion –far from it. Support for abortion soars to highest level in almost 30 years
