Stephen Robinson is urging St Mirren not to slack off in the race for the top 6
But he warned that a “fantastic” win over Livingston is worth nothing if they don’t get over the line.
The Paisley squad are poised for a place in the top half of the standings after a brilliant performance on pole. A blitz from their visitors in the first half added three goals and placed them in fifth place with three games to go.
Two penalties from Mark O’Hara were the trigger and a goal from Tony Watt secured the points. Robinson says he is “desperate” his players are now being rewarded for an impressive campaign.
“The first half was fantastic,” said Robinson. “Our energy and our press have been excellent. We got two penalties for putting the ball in areas and defending them. We got through a five-minute streak early in the second half and I don’t think they gave us too much trouble.
“This game was never about everything, there is no point in winning this game and getting nothing in the next three. But Livingston and St Mirren being in the top six reflects really well at both clubs.

“We have to go and get results. It’s easy. There is a lot of competition, a lot of good teams. We don’t get carried away too much. We don’t hear too much noise when we lose games and when we win we remind each other of what we did well. So if you stop doing these things, you won’t win football games.
“No one gets carried away. To sit here in fifth place with three games to go is an incredible achievement considering what has happened financially at the club over the past year and the cuts that have been made. That’s due to the players and I really want them to finish the season and get what they deserve.”
