Solano Community College on Wednesday unveiled its new Library and Learning Resource Center at its Fairfield campus.

The facility, officials said, “will be the new heart of the campus,” offering state-of-the-art resources and tools.

“This is one of the largest projects planned for the Measure Q Bond program. Work on the new building has been completed, with gradual relocations taking place since early 2022,” officials said in a press statement. “The demolition of the old building 100 has started with the completion of the entire project, which is expected by mid-2022.”

The new 59,252-square-foot building offers a learning environment with a “high-tech touch” and “will house traditional printed library resources with a computer commons and
digital resources, study rooms, tutoring, the college data center and main servers for
Institution-wide technology,” officials said.

There will also be a television audiovisual arts studio and a faculty/staff training centre.
