Solano College baseball rallies to defeat Yuba – The Vacaville Reporter

The Solano College baseball team blew up for nine runs in the sixth inning, beating Visiting Yuba 9-5 in a Bay Valley Conference matchup on Friday.

The Falcons (4-15, 1-2) were 5-0 down before the inning, but they eventually took the lead with Jason Pridy’s sacrificial fly. Zion Judkins had a two-run blast in the inning to make it 5-4 and Dillon Nosrati ended the rally with a two-run double. Nosrati also started the rally with a sack fly.

Ryan Mitchell was 3-for-3 to lead the Solano offense. Jaxson Bates was 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Austin Menesini had a triple.

Ryan Radkey clinched the win to the relief of starter Jesse Rodriguez. Radkey went three innings, allowing three hits and no runs while fanning out four. Josh Petrill pitched the last inning and didn’t allow a run while striking one.

Vacaville 6, Armijo 3

The Vacaville High softball team returned to winning ways on Friday when they defeated Armijo 6-3 in the Monticello Empire League game.

The Bulldogs (3-5, 1-1) went 2-2 in the first inning with the Royals (0-2), but Vacaville prevailed as the game progressed.

Offensively, Junior Makayla Freshour and Aubrie Gibson led the Bulldogs. Freshour and Gibson both went 2-for-4 and each had an RBI.

The Bulldogs remain on the road when they face Rodriguez on Wednesday.

Vanden 4, Fairfield 2

The Vanden High softball team defeated Fairfield 4-2 in Friday’s MEL game.

The Vikings (2-0) came on the board in the top of the second and scored three goals. After another run atop the sixth, the Falcons (5-4, 0-2) scored twice atop the seventh but failed to score for the remainder of the game.

The Vikings were led offensively by Senior Keira Cahalan, who went 2-on-3 and earned an RBI. Junior Lawson Aniya and Senior Cassandra Zapata each had a triple, with Zapata receiving an RBI on a 1-for-3 day. Cahalan threw five shutout innings, batting out eight and allowing only four hits.

The Vikings are scheduled to take on the Marist Spartans of Eugene, Oregon at home on Wednesday.

Woodland Christian 3, Buckingham 2

In a non-league game on Friday, the Buckingham Charter Knights lost 3-2 to the Woodland Christian Cardinals.

After the Cardinals (7-1) conceded three runs in the first three innings, the Knights (1-4) scored two goals at the top of the fourth but failed to score at any point for the remainder of the game.

The Knights’ only RBI came from sophomore Zach Petit, who went 1-on-3.

Year 11, Vacaville 4

Vacaville High’s badminton team couldn’t beat Vintage 11-4 on Friday.

In the singles games, Vintage beat Vacaville 5-3. The Bulldogs’ three singles wins came from Hadel Marini (21-14, 21-15), Hannah Roderick (14-21, 21-17, 21-17) and Grace Ma (12-21, 22-20, 21-18) .

In doubles, Vintage won the matches 6-1. The Bulldogs’ lone win came from the tandem of Marini and Maya Wright, who won the third set 21-11.

The Bulldogs (2-5 overall) are scheduled to take on Wood on Tuesday.
