‘SNL’ Taps Lizzo as Host and Musical Guest (And Others Too)

Next month’s Saturday Night Live lineup is looking good as hell.

For the first time, singer and rapper Lizzo has been tapped to host SNL. The “Rumors” artist will make her hosting debut on April 16, while also marking her second appearance as a musical guest.

“Live from New York…” the Grammy winner captioned the casting announcement on Instagram.

Also headlining upcoming episodes of the sketch comedy program are comedian Jerrod Carmichael with musical guest Gunna (April 2) and actor Jake Gyllenhaal with musical guest Camila Cabello (April 9). Carmichael and Gunna will both be making their “SNL” debuts, while Gyllenhaal and Cabello will each be making their second appearances on the series.

While performing double duties on the variety show, Lizzo will be promoting her upcoming competition series, Watch Out for the Big Grrrls. The stargazing program, which premieres Friday on Amazon Prime Video, focuses on a group of talented hopefuls vying for a coveted spot on Lizzo’s squad of backing dancers.

“Girls who look like me aren’t represented,” says Lizzo in the trailer for the reality show.

“It’s time to roll up my sleeves and find her for myself. … We’re fat and we’re pretty and we know what it’s all about. It’s the big girl fight.”
