Sneha Dey comes to us as a reporter for general use

Sneha Dey, who has impressed us all for the past three months as a Texas Tribune grantee, will join our staff as a general duties reporter.

A persistent, meticulous and empathetic reporter, Sneha has consistently presented and produced stories rich in detail and insight. She made a great contribution to our March main coverage and is insightful fear in the disabled Texans on new voting restrictions. She worked a weekend shift and pulled together a smart attitude the accused Austin cop on his actions during the George Floyd protests – and who is now running for Texas House. She suggested and performed a story about how homeless Texans put up with it the severe weather of this winter.


Sneha has also been instrumental in our reporting on the government investigation into the families of transgender children the fears reported by families and the Impact of the Investigations on providers of gender-affirming health care, including hormone therapy.

Before joining the Tribune, Sneha interned at the Chicago Sun-Times, NPR, Chalkbeat Chicago, and City Limits, a nonprofit newsroom covering issues affecting low- and middle-income New Yorkers. She served as Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Northwestern in 2020 and 2021, creating forums for dialogue between readers and editorial staff to improve reporting.

Sneha, a native of Scarsdale, New York, will start on April 11 reporting to Breaking News Editor Alejandro Martínez-Cabrera. It will take her a few weeks in June to finish her journalism and law degrees and move to Austin. Please join us to welcome them to the team.
