Smile beats up Bros at the weekend box office

Perhaps you attribute it to the beginning of that particular time of year that is known – obsessively online set like “Spooky Season”, but new horror thriller to smile is apparently on course to win this weekend’s box office. Per diversityParker Finn’s film is slated to gross $19 million from box office this weekend and get his entire $17 million back Budget in one fell swoop, making it the biggest box-office hit of the week. The film stars Sosie Bacon – who received strong reviews for the performance, including a recent shout out from Stephen King– as a psychologist afflicted by a mysterious curse after witnessing a patient’s suicide.
Among other things, this figure of 19 million dollars puts to smile well ahead of this weekend’s other big opener: The Billy Eichner-led brothers, which is currently expected to fetch $4.7 million from rom-com fans. As diversity notes the film – which has received almost universally positive reviews from critics, including an A- from our own Leigh Monson– has no gigantic Mountain to climb if it is to raise its $22 million budget bBut that’s not a particularly good start. (Whether the weak opening is more due to possible audience hesitation a rare studio romantic comedy focused on two gay men or just general finance Suffering of the rom-com genre in general, it’s hard to say at first.)
brothers will likely finish fourth this weekend, falling behind second and third weeks or to the don’t worry darling and The Woman King. Both films had fairly normal box office dips as her time in theaters lengthens, though Viola Davis’ action film remains more stable than Olivia Wilde’s lively sci-fi thriller.
