Sløtface unveils fresh EP AWAKE/ASLEEP

Norwegian indie darlings Sløtface have just released their latest EP, AWAKE/ASLEEP, and it’s an eclectic mix of musical styles and influences.
A testament to their ever-evolving sound, AWAKE/ASLEEP, now available through Propeller Recordings / Virgin Music Australia, features seven tracks that capture the band’s dynamic range and diverse approach to songwriting.
Written by lead singer Haley Shea in collaboration with Mikhael Paskalev, Odd Martin Skålnes and Simen Følstad Nielsen, the EP is a sonic journey that takes listeners on a wild ride through the ups and downs of the human experience. And with the help of live band members Tobias Maxwell Osland, Marie Moe, and Nils and Jørgen Nilsen, the songs take on an added depth and complexity that’s sure to captivate audiences.

According to Shea, the EP is about showcasing the band’s breadth and versatility. “We wanted this EP to show range and difference and to feel dynamic and open and constantly changing as you listen to it,” she explains. “We want Sløtface to be able to change and evolve over the years, especially in its new collective form, and this EP is the first attempt to explore what that can sound like and how a bunch of different collaborators and ways of working can lead to that. “
Thematically, the EP is an exploration of joy and happiness and the obstacles that stand in the way of these states. From the raw emotion of “Come Hell or Whatever” and “Beta” to the more lighthearted escapisms of “Friday Nights”, “Cowboys In The Dark” and “Indoor Kid”, the songs offer a multi-faceted look at the band’s creative process and unique perspective on life.
All in all, AWAKE/ASLEEP is a triumph for Sløtface, showing their ability to push boundaries and experiment with new sounds while staying true to their roots. It’s a must-read for fans of indie rock and anyone looking for music that’s both heartfelt and forward-thinking.
