KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) – Members of six attractions in the Kalamazoo area can get free entry to the other organizations this month.
members of the air zoo, Binder Park Zoo, The Gilmore Auto Museum, Kalamazoo Institute of the Arts, Kalamazoo Nature Center or Kellogg Biological Station Bird Sanctuary and WK Kellogg Mansion You can enter the other five locations free of charge throughout the month of October. It is part of the Southwest Michigan Cultural Membership Exchange program.
“We love the Southwest Michigan Cultural Membership Exchange,” said Leslie Walsh, Binder Park Zoo’s director of marketing and development. “We’ve been doing this for many years now and it’s really a bonus for our zoo members. You meet other organizations that are truly world-class destinations in West Michigan.”
Members can track their visits using punch cards, which are available from all organizations. Punch cards can take part in the raffle for non-cash prizes after four visits.
“Our members love it, look forward to it,” Walsh said. “It increases memberships for us.”
Rebecca Barr, The Air Zoo’s membership manager, said the program helps participating organizations.
“It allows (members) not only to experience different things, but we support each other as organizations,” she said.
If people are interested in becoming a member of any of the six sites, both Barr and Walsh said it’s worth it.
“By all means join one of the organizations,” Barr said. “I’m the membership manager here, but I’m also a member of Binder Park and the nature center because I enjoy going to both with my family year-round.”
Walsh said a membership at Binder Park Zoo “pays for itself in about two and a half visits.” She said it includes other benefits, including discounts for over 150 zoos and aquariums across the country.
