Six Flags Magic Mountain launches pay-per-ride option on 4 coasters – Orange County Register
Six Flags Magic Mountain now offers a pay your way to pay for individual roller coasters in keeping with industry leader Disneyland’s latest move to charge separate per ride for those willing to pay the price.
Magic Mountain has launched a disposable, pay-per-ride Flash Pass on four of Valencia’s most popular roller coasters.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure currently offer two payline skipping options – a good $20 Genie + service for access to 19 rides, and individual Lightning Lane use for $7 to $20 for each ride on three of the most popular attractions at the Anaheim theme park.
New Flash Pass Skip-the-Line one-time ride option available at Magic Mountain on select days for West Coast Racers, Colossus Twist, Full Throttle and Goliath.
Magic Mountain’s new pay-to-ride option is just – optional – with visitors still being able to choose to wait in line for any ride.
One-time Flash Pass prices range from $5 to $25 per person and vary by trip and day. Twisted Colossus and West Coast riders cost $12 each per ride while Full Throttle and Goliath cost $14 on national holiday Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 17. The new Flash Pass Skip-the-Line program will be available at Magic Mountain in the near future, according to Six Flags officials.

How it works?
Magic Mountain visitors use their smartphones to scan Flash Pass Skip-the-Line VR codes at ride entrances and select the rides they want to ride, return time, and preferred party size their. A one-time Flash Pass must be purchased on a per person per trip basis.
When their turn-around time arrives, riders enter with a Flash Pass and have the rider scan the Skip-the-Line barcode before boarding the roller coaster.
Flash Pass Skip-the-Line can be purchased at any time of the day, and return periods are allocated based on availability starting at 3pm per ride per day. The Skip option can only be reserved for times between 3pm and beyond, and quantities are limited.
The new Skip-the-Line option adds another layer to the already complex Flash Pass system.
The Magic Mountain Traditional Flash Pass is bought for the whole day and is good for skipping the line for about 20 rides. All-day Flash Pass prices range from $80 to $180 – with shorter wait times promised with higher price tags. Magic Mountain customers and members can add an all-season Flash Pass for $399 to $499.

Other parks in the Six Flags chain like Six Flags Over Texas have tested a single-use Flash Pass option with prices ranging from $5 to $10 throughout the day, Screamscape.
