A statement read: “We, the concerned supporters and enthusiasts of Scottish rugby, call on the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) to take immediate action and remove Ruth Davidson from her post as Non-Executive Director.” Shedding light on the reasons why her continued presence in this role is detrimental to the values ​​and integrity of our beloved sport.”

Ms Davidson, who describes herself as a “lifelong Scotland fan”, is delighted to join the board and says she wants “to help grow football in Scotland in any way she can”.

Ruth Davidson’s appointment as SRU will only create division

Ms Davidson’s appointment comes alongside that of businessman Mike Soutar, following the appointment of John McGuigan as chairman in May and Alexandra Whelan as non-executive director in June.

“I am delighted that Ruth and Mike have agreed to join SRL’s board of directors,” said McGuigan. “They bring extensive experience, gathered over many years, in areas that will be crucial to the further development of the game in Scotland.”
