Shops in Georgetown Square were destroyed by gunfire

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WANE) — Shops in Georgetown Square were damaged by gunfire early Friday.

Several stores at the mall on East State Boulevard and Maplecrest Road reported damage Friday.

A window of JJ’s antique store was smashed and another of Encore Energy’s windows appeared to have a bullet hole. Beer cans were dumped in front of the shops.

WANE 15 learned that a couple walking in the area before dawn spotted the damage before 5 a.m

Fort Wayne police officers were on the scene, collecting evidence and documenting the damage.

An official said surveillance cameras may have caught the vandals at work.
