Sewage spill causes closure of Newport Bay Channel Waters – Orange County Register

NEWPORT BEACH — Water in several channels of Newport Beach Bay was closed to swimmers Sunday because of a sewage spill, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.

The nature and origin of the spill were not immediately disclosed.

According to OCHCA, the closure affects the water in all canals in western Newport Bay between 33rd and 43rd Streets, as well as the water area of ​​the bay east of the Newport Boulevard Bridge through the Lido Isle Bridge, and the projection of the Pacific Cost Highway and Tustin Avenue.

Health officials said the water is closed until further notice, including swimming, surfing and diving.
