CHICAGO — No matter what would happen on the field during Major League Soccer season, 2022 would always be a special year for Chicago Fire FC.

That’s particularly true for some of the homegrown players in the squad, including Berwyn native Brian Gutierrez, who now has a chance to play for his hometown club.

“It’s a real honor. It’s a real honor to be part of this club and the history of this club is really good,” said Gutierrez. “I just think you know what the fire means to Chicago is hard work, tradition, honor, passion.”
