Saturday is San Antonio Landfill Free Day

SAN ANTONIO – Saturday, April 9th ​​is Free dump day for residents of San Antonio.

San Antonians who wish to dispose of furniture, including mattresses and other bulky items, can drop them off at several landfills from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Garbage in bags is also accepted.

Photo ID and a recent CPS Energy utility bill showing a solid waste service fee are required to participate in Free Landfill Day.

No construction waste, commercial industrial waste or hazardous waste will be accepted.

Loads in trucks and trailers should be secured and covered to prevent contents from being thrown onto the roadway and endangering traffic.

The following locations will participate:

• Republic Services Landfill 7000 IH 10 East

• Waste Disposal Landfill 8611 Covel Road

Materials accepted:

• Household appliances, water heaters, toilets, furniture, mattresses

• Carpet, fence material, tires (maximum six car tires per household)

Material not accepted:

• Roofing material, sheetrock, earth, brick, scrub, lumber, building materials

• Industrial, commercial or construction waste
