File this under Bullshit I could see it coming from a mile away: anti-abortion activists now brazenly admit they don’t care the that Herschel Walker—the self-proclaimed domestic serial offender Republican candidate for the Georgia Senate with a bunch of secret kids—to reportdly paid for an abortion and sent his then girlfriend a speedy recovery Map.
On Tuesday, Dana Loesch, the very “life-friendly” former NRA spokeswoman, gloated teen survivors of cyberbullying the Parkland school shooting, addressed the reports of Walker on her podcast, The Dana Show. she argued Regardless of whether the story is true or not, winning back the Senate is more important than (outspoken) conservative values. “Winning is a virtue, and I don’t take bait, and neither should you,” she said, seemingly speaking the soft part — that Republicans care more about power than their professed values – out loud. “What I am about to say is by no means a contradiction or a compromise of principle. Please remember that I am only concerned about one thing at this point. So I don’t care if Herschel paid Walker to abort endangered baby eagles — I want control of the Senate.”
Here’s a riddle to unwrap: Republicans want control of the Senate to, among other things, push through a national ban on abortion – arguing that abortion is murder and fetuses are people. And those same Republicans don’t care if they have to endorse a man who paid for his girlfriend’s abortion to impose this disingenuous worldview on a nation that overwhelmingly disagrees.
After concedingpuzzling that canceling one engaged baby eagle would be even worse than abortion of a human fetus, Loesch continued for some reason: “If the story is true, tell me Walker allegedly used his money to pay a slut to have an abortion, and [Democratic Senate nominee Raphael] Warnock wants to use all our money to pay for a whole bunch of abortion skanks — and yes, if they’re overwhelmingly over 99% used for birth control and it’s my taxpayers, you invited me into your business and I will do Use whatever descriptor I want to use – nothing changes for me. I don’t care if he did it or not. I don’t even care.” Conservative slut-shaming about people having abortions isn’t new, although Loesch’s choice of words (and ignorance of existing federal policy on abortion reporting!) is particularly abhorrent. It seems to me that if anyone is the “prostitute” here, it’s Walker.
you just really don’t care; do you?
Walker denied the story reported until Daily Beast, specify, “I plan to sue” (lol) the publication for its report, which was backed up by some pretty damning evidence. Still, Politico interviewed senior Republican activists who all but acknowledged that this was something for Walker, his team, and pretty much every Republican in Georgia has been aware of this for some time. In private, they said, Walker didn’t even bother to deny the story.
As Jezebel’s Susan Rinkunas pointed out on Monday, despite Walker’s aggressive self-promotion as a “pro-life” family man who wants to outright ban abortion, his own abortion story is not hypocritical – it speaks to how the goal of anti-abortion politicians is to legislate to abolish everyone’s body autonomy, but her own. were anti-abortion Republicans outed for years of paying for the abortions of loved ones and others in their lives — Walker isn’t even the first Republican congressional candidate suspended this election cycle. It’s a story as old as time, and while it will always be shocking, it’s just… not surprising. people with abortions—no matter what their politics-Will never surprise.
and for all their professed love for children and family values, these people seem ready to do so Cast Walker’s son, who accused Walker of abusing him and his mother and threatening to kill him, under the bus. It’s not just Loesch, is it even ex-President Trumprelaxed rumored Self-Paying for Women’s Abortions: Rabid anti-abortion groups like Susan B. Anthony’s List and the National Right to Life have also been vocal in supporting Walker.
SBA list called Walker pro-life and doubled down to support him. National Right to Life equated the Daily Beast Report alleging similar “character assassination” against Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, allegedly because Walker and Thomas are both black men – but they have something else in common: both have credible allegations of abusing women! The organization continued, “Herschel Walker wants to protect unborn children, while Raphael Warnock wants to see them die through indefinite abortion.” (SIDE: Whatever the heck “infinite abortion” is, sign me up!)
It’s honestly just embarrassing at this point, and it would all be ridiculous if the stakes of this choice weren’t so high. Unlike years of pretending Roe v. calf Overturned, they would just send abortion “back to the States,” Republican congressmen like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have already done introduced legislation to be banned at the federal level. If they elect Walker, win majorities in the House and Senate, and capture the White House in two years, abortion will almost certainly be criminalized nationwide. Providing or accessing medical care for miscarriage and other emergencies could land you in prison; Osteoarthritis medication would be inaccessible to those of “childbearing age”. Still, it seems safe to assume that none of these rules would apply to men like Walker and those below him wing.
