Response to the State of the Union: See what hard-working Americans thought of President Biden’s speech

President Biden delivered his 2023 State of the Union address on February 7, 2023 on Capitol Hill.

The annual address included mentions of gun violence, health care, the state of the economy and more.

Many Americans watched the talk and then had strong thoughts about it.

“Idiot,” a father and grandfather in Iowa bluntly told Fox News Digital in comments about the speech. “Biden isn’t leading us — he’s leading us down a very slippery slope morally, economically and geopolitically.”

He continued: “What I mean by geopolitical is this: the Chinese spy balloon should have been shot down as soon as it crossed the US. “

A wife, mother, and grandmother from the greater Boston area said the speech was meant to “pacify liberals and present an America most of us just don’t know.”

She added: “Everyone in my family works longer hours and pays more for groceries and gas. The President’s speech felt insulting; he’s in an ivory tower full of progressive ideas, while at the foot of the tower we’re paying for those ideas – which we don’t even agree to.”

Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth also spoke to Americans about the address; He appeared on Fox & Friends Wednesday morning for input and reactions to the speech from restaurant patrons.

Hegseth visited Pete’s Family Restaurant in Carthage, North Carolina to talk to North Carolinars like Donna (last name omitted) about the address.

When asked what she thought of the speech, the woman said it was “nothing but lies, all lies” – with an important subject missing in action.

She said, “In this country without borders, what else matters anyway?”

Another restaurant-goer named Ken served in the army for 40 years – and said he was also disappointed by the lack of border talks.

“Biden isn’t leading us — he’s leading us down a very slippery slope morally, economically and geopolitically.”

“I was disappointed that he didn’t mention anything about the border,” he said.

The Army veteran said he worked as a National Guard commander in California for nearly five years — working to build fences and secure the border.

“He makes everything sound great, and it’s not.”

Ken said he believes Vice President Harris has not improved the situation at the border.

“Be [Biden’s] Vice President dropped the ball completely,” he said.

Two other people, Brenda and Carter, said they found the speech “disheartening.”

“He makes everything sound great, and it’s not,” Brenda said.

Carter mentioned the backlash Biden received during the speech when he claimed Republicans are the ones cutting Social Security and Medicare for seniors.

Carter said Biden was put in his place — when Republicans verbally fought back.

“Typical liberal speech … promised everything but delivered nothing,” he said.

Brenda and Carter said the best part of the night was the Republican response to the State of the Union — given by Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Both said she was “fantastic” in making her comment on the address.
