Real Madrid striker Benzema has doubts about a game against Espanyol

MADRID: Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema will be doubtful in La Liga against Espanyol on Saturday after missing Thursday’s group training session.

The France forward was unable to work with his team-mates this week due to a reported ankle problem.

Club sources told AFP that Benzema’s appearance against Espanyol will depend on whether or not he can train on Friday and that he has been training individually this week.

According to Spanish reports, Benzema is not a risk for the club’s Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.

Madrid are second in La Liga, nine points behind leaders Barcelona.

Benzema has had several fitness issues this season, missing France’s World Cup defense after suffering a hamstring injury. –AFP
