A new poem by Bono about the Russia-Ukraine conflict has been shared online.
During a luncheon with MPs on March 17, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi read a poem by the U2 frontman.
Pelosi revealed he sent her the poem earlier this morning. The poem was promptly mocked by social media users.
A Twitter user has now shared the full poem with the caption: “Is this literally the worst poem ever written?”
Another commented, “Insane to look at Bono and Pelosi’s net worth and know that’s all they’re willing to do to help AND they think it means anything?”
Some included parodies of their own: “I want to take shelter from the poison rain where the streets are Ukraine, yes, yes, yes.”
“This reads like something that would be published in the letters section of a local newspaper, which only receives letters from five people and is forced to publish all of them each week to fill space,” added one user.
Another responded directly to the line, “From the psycho in this human family,” writing, “I came here to say that this line is absolutely the craziest. He’s saying we’re all one big family and Putin won’t be invited to dinner anymore, is he?”

The poem was read at the annual Friends of Ireland White House luncheon held in celebration of St Patrick’s Day.
