Ravens re-sign Kevon Seymour to one-year contract – Orange County Register

Team Raven has re-signed full-back and special team contributor Kevon Seymour to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday. The terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Seymour, 28, is set to become a free agent this season. He’s appeared in nine games this season and started two in a secondary game for Raven decimated by injury and the coronavirus. Seymour finished with 25 tackles (three conceded), a protected pass and a throw at Pittsburgh Steelers defender Ben Roethlisberger in the regular-season finals. In coverage, he made 24 completions of 30 goals in 279 yards and two touchdowns (127.6 passers rating), according to Pro Football Reference.

Seymour joined the Ravens’ practice team in September. He played in four games and earned just nine defenses in the first 13 weeks of the season, but his role expanded as full-backs. Marlon Humphrey, Jimmy Smith, Chris Westry, Tavon Young and Anthony Averett are sidelined or limited due to injury. Seymour has played at least 69% of saves in Raven’s last four games. He’s also played at least nine special teams in every appearance this season.

Seymour’s re-signing is the first move in the dark in a reason that could reshape the depth chart in Baltimore. Humphrey, Young and Marcus Peters have contracts until the end of next season, although Young could be a casualty over salary caps. Averett and Smith are both pending free agents, and Chris Westry is a restricted free agent.
