Rapper Goonew was shot dead after an incident in Maryland

Rapper Goonew has been killed after a shooting in District Heights, Maryland. He was 24 years old.
The rapper, also known as Big Whizzle, died on Friday (March 18) after being shot. His death, which has been confirmed The Washington post Office from his manager, comes nearly two years after surviving another shooting attempt in 2020.
Afterward, he wrote on Twitter, “I never show these pictures but on July 5th last year they told my mom I’m dead I’ll be back… I’m blessed and grateful to still be here.”
It is not yet known whether the two incidents are related.
Goonew first made his mark in 2017 after working with Lil Dude before signing with Hoodrich Pablo Juan. He had released several mixtapes including “Hey Auntie”, “Big 64” and “Goonwick 2”.
He helped develop his style and fanbase over the next four years The Washington Post describes his music as “timeless”.
According to the newspaper’s obituary, “The 24-year-old Maryland rapper had a knack for blurring time, smearing his rhymes slightly ahead of the beat, making the present moment feel weightless and imprecise. It gave his music an enchanted breathlessness, but it all felt perfectly natural to Goonew.”
Prelude: At approx. 5:40 p.m., officers in the area got in touch to report a shooting. When they got to the scene, they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. At approximately 7:30 p.m., the victim was pronounced dead.

His death comes just days after rapper Baby Cino died at the age of 20; He was shot and killed shortly after his release from Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami. He had been arrested for gun possession.
As reported in The Miami Herald, Starks was picked up in a car upon his release from prison. Moments later, a gunman in another car aimed at the car Starks was traveling in.
The shooter is said to have fired at least 40 shots at the car. The Starks’ car then crashed into a wall while traveling on the Palmetto Expressway. He reportedly suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head.
Corrections spokesman Juan Diasgranados said, “The Miami-Dade Police Department is handling the investigation and circumstances surrounding this incident.”
