Psaki shuts down Pete Doocy’s rant that Biden doesn’t have an electric car: ‘Presidents don’t drive much’

Jen Psaki gunned down Fox News’ Peter Doocy after he tried to goad her about Joe Biden not owning an electric car.

The White House press secretary pushed back on Doocy’s question, telling him, “Presidents of the United States don’t drive much.”

Doocy then reminded Ms. Psaki that the President “posted videos of him revving his corvette’s engine in Wilmington, he owns cars.”

Last year, during a trip to Michigan to test drive Ford’s new F-150 electric truck with lights, Mr. Biden said, “I’m a car guy.”

The President is the son of a car dealer and the owner of a green 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

Ms Psaki refused to be dragged, telling Doocy: “And he’s also been driving electric vehicles as president to give the rest of the country a model.”

Doocy then repeated his question, asking if Mr Biden owned an electric car.

“The President’s record on this is clear, Peter, the Presidents of the United States are up to date and when they’re gone don’t usually drive much.”

Mr. Biden spoke about his love for his Corvette in an August 2020 campaign video.

“The Secret Service won’t let me drive. I’m not allowed to drive. That’s the only thing I hate about this job. I’m serious,” he said.

Mr Biden had an ongoing feud with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whom the president has repeatedly snubbed while promoting electric cars from legacy automakers.

Mr Musk told CNBC that “Biden has deliberately ignored Tesla” and has not yet been invited to the White House with other company leaders.

Biden’s advisers have said he was not impressed by Mr Musk’s anti-union views.
