Pizza is number one when it comes to the most popular Super Bowl dishes – Orange County Register

Who will be victorious in Sunday’s NFL Super Bowl LVII game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles?

The Eagles are a slight betting favorite, but it’s unclear.

One thing is for sure – according to a recent survey by TopCashback.com, a popular online cashback savings site, at least 56% of viewers serve pizza during the game.

“I’d agree with that,” said Greg Sisoy, owner of the Mount Clemens engine house, which is stocking up on ingredients in anticipation of the rush.

“There’s twice as much on Super Bowl Sunday,” Sisoy said of the pepperoni, cheese, veggies and other items that topping both her round and square pizzas.

Also double sales.

“Last year was crazy,” Sisoy said.

On a typical Sunday, the restaurant, which pays homage to Detroit’s engine house and firefighters, sells between 30 and 40 pizzas. On Super Bowl Sunday last year, their chefs tossed and topped more than 150 pies.

The favorite topping among pizza lovers would be pepperoni, followed by extra cheese and mushrooms.

Second only to pizza on the list of the most popular foods eaten during the big game was chicken wings (54%), followed by nachos (43%) and sliders (28%). Fifth place went to pigs in a blanket and chilli with 15%.
