Photos: Travel, testing ramps up as Omicron reaches California

What happens when you have a budding Omicron variant and a busy travel season?

Aggravation.

Up to 3.5 million people are expected to travel through Los Angeles International Airport from December 16 to January 24, 2020. 3, according to airport officials, making it the busiest travel time this year. According to many reports, airlines and airports have not weathered the recovery very well so far, with staff shortages, changing safety protocols and rowdy passengers stalling travel.

Now, with the Omicron variant spreading rapidly and many travelers determined to move ahead with their vacation plans, months of preparation by airlines and airport staff at major airports like LAX are being put to the test.

Testing is also increasing as families and friends get together over the Christmas holidays.
