People are just now learning what the colored labels on bread packages mean – and it’s actually pretty important

YOU probably won’t stop to analyze the color of the label on your bread — but afterward, you might take another second to examine it.
The tag colors seem to contain information that isn’t immediately obvious, and people are overwhelmed.

“I was years old today when I found out that the bread’s color markings were based on the day it was baked,” Brandon (@brandonguss) said in an incredulous voice in a TikTok video that uncovered random information.
“I did not know that.
“I wanted to try and act smart and be like, ‘Oh yeah, duh,’ but no, I don’t know,” he said.
Apparently an off-white label means the bread was baked on Monday, orange indicates Tuesday, yellow for Wednesday, blue for Thursday, green for Friday, red for Saturday and white for Sunday.
The color-coded labels serve an important purpose, as they show the date the bread was baked and wrapped, according to Yahoo.
This allows staff to keep track of when things were baked, so they can replace older loaves with fresh ones if needed.
People flooded the TikTok comments section with thoughts on the different tag colors, many of which said they hadn’t come across most of the colors.
“Are they always baked on Sundays?!” one questioned.
“Always baked on Sundays, I never see any other color,” another person reflected on this sentiment.
“We only have the white color brands in the Netherlands,” interjected a third party.
“In the Netherlands there is always Sunday bread,” emphasized another.
“I have bagels for Friday.”
“I always got Monday bread.”
“But my bread labels are always white.”
“DO YOU ALL HAVE COLORED BREAD SIGNS?!?!?” asked a perplexed person.
