CHICAGO — More than 50 pets rescued from Florida’s Hurricane Ian will arrive in Chicago on Tuesday.
PAWS Chicago mobilized volunteers to hurricane-devastated areas and rescued dozens of homeless pets from shelters. The organization worked with the Humane Society Naples, which was acting as a nerve center for animals from several area shelters and had to close due to power, water and staff shortages.
Once these pets are medically cleared, they will be put up for adoption at the Lincoln Park Adoption Center.
PAWS Chicago plans to return to Florida in the coming days to help rescue more pets.
