Padi farmers should emulate Selangor in crop management: Mohamad Sabu

SEKINCHAN: Padi farmers across the country are encouraged to emulate Selangor farmers in the management of their fields, including the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.
Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu (Picture) said Padi farmers in Kuala Selangor and Sabak Bernam have managed to produce between six and 10 tons of rice per hectare for one season using modern technologies.
“If all padi farmers in this country can reach an average of six tons, we will have sufficient rice supply in Malaysia, if we exceed six tons we can export our rice abroad.
“We hope the technology can be used here in other states, such as B. using planting machines that can remove weeds to allow all fertilizers to be absorbed by the plants,” he told reporters while visiting Jelapang Padi Selangor here today.
Meanwhile, Mohamad said Agrobank is offering a six-month moratorium to farmers affected by the recent flood disaster.
He said that starting today, farmers can apply to any Agrobank branch.
“The bank also waived card or passbook replacement fees for Padi farmers and farmers affected by the flood,” he said. – Bernama
