OG voice actor makes his epic return as Ellie’s mother

The actress who voiced the character of Ellie in the original The last of us Video game will make a cameo appearance in the season finale of the hit TV show.
Yesterday (March 8), HBO shared a still from the final episode of Ashley Johnson looking shocked and holding a baby bump.
While Johnson was the voice of Ellie in the video game, she will play the teen’s mother, Anna, in episode nine. Given that she’s pregnant, fans are expecting the season finale to look back at the life of Ellie’s family before she was born.
Fans are thrilled to see Johnson return The last of us world as her voice is a signature part of fandom.
Johnson won two BAFTA Awards for Video Game Performer for her voice work in The last of us And The Last of Us: Left behindand became the only actress to win the award twice.
“The legend is back,” one fan wrote on Twitter, adding, “Thanks for not leaving the OG actors behind.”
Another person wrote: “The Ashley Johnson Effect will hit every single person who hasn’t seen it until the next episode. Be ready, she’s amazing.”
And another tweeted: “Ashley Johnson will be in the season finale and I can’t wait! It looks like she’s pregnant. Will she play Ellie’s mother or…?”
Johnson is a big fan of Bella Ramsey, who played Ellie in the TV adaptation.
Since the series first aired earlier this year, fans have praised creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann both for their dedication to faithfully recreating the game and for expanding on characters whose storylines aren’t complete yet were developed.
“Ashley Johnson, who plays Anna in the HBO adaptation, is the cutest connection to the game they could have added,” one person exclaimed.
In last week’s episode, fans saw Troy Baker, who played Joel in the game, as James, one of David’s iconic henchmen, came onto the show.
He didn’t last long, but those who played the video game were still thrilled to hear his voice again.
Fans of the original video game were equally thrilled to see the characters of Bill and Frank come to life in the heartbreaking third installment. While the game only hinted at the couple’s romance, the TV series enjoyed a heyday with a tragic ending.
Similarly, Anna is only briefly heard throughout the game and never makes a full appearance.
The final episode of the first season of The last of us The first season will air on Sunday (March 12) on HBO in the US and the following day at 9pm on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
