OCMA Gala Raises $2.1M Ahead of Museum Opening – Orange County Register

During the recent grand opening gala, more than $2.1 million was raised for the new Orange County Museum of Art.

The Art Sense Gala also honored artist Sanford Biggers, who was commissioned to create a large sculpture for the opening of OCMA’s new home at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. His “Of many waters…” is now a centerpiece of the museum’s terrace.

Visitors can tour the inaugural exhibits and visit the new museum’s cafe, rooftop terrace and gift shop, The MIND, when the space opens to the public with a 24-hour celebration beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 8.

Admission to the museum is free for 10 years.
