NFL legend Tony Gonzalez believes Eagles’ brass deserves more credit, speaks about Andy Reid’s place in history

Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez will join the millions watching Sunday night’s Super Bowl LVII between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Chiefs come into the game seeking their second Super Bowl title in four years, and the Eagles are seeking their second Super Bowl title since the 2017 season. The game will feature the best teams from the AFC and the NFC, and it will be a battle between two of the NFL’s best quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts.

There has been talk of Kansas City over whether they would be considered a dynasty for their third Super Bowl appearance in four years. Gonzalez told Fox News Digital that he agrees the talk about Dynasty is warranted, but he said fans should give a lot of credit to the Eagles’ front office as well.

“If the Chiefs win, then yeah, I think you put the ‘D’ on it — put the ‘dynasty’ word in front of it when you’re talking about the success they’ve had over the past four years,” he said.

“If they win that game with Philly, give credit to (Eagles GM) Howie Roseman for the way he rebuilt and retooled this team – different quarterback, lots of guys, all brand new.

“It’s incredible that they’re turning it around so quickly. You see teams that go to the Super Bowl and they don’t get back there for 10 years or more. But to do what Philly did, the way they retooled — get rid of Carson Wentz and all that stuff and get rid of Nick Foles, get Jalen Hurts — it’s just a credit to what they were able to accomplish from a managerial perspective.”

Chiefs coach Andy Reid is also set to get another crack at a Vince Lombardi Trophy, and this time it could come at the expense of the team he used to coach before going to Kansas City.

A win could cement Reid’s place among the best coaches to ever lead the NFL.

“I mean definitely go there to put him there,” the former Chiefs star told Fox News Digital. “Andy, from a play-calling perspective, I don’t think you can say anyone was better than him. And then you give him a guy like Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill – I know he doesn’t play there anymore – I think the stuff he can do is awesome.

“Absolutely, I put him up there, top five coaches of all time – and if he wins this week, sure.”

Gonzalez also tries to calm rabid football fans during the game, drawing attention to the stress and anxiety fans can experience throughout the ordeal.

He has teamed up with Bayer Aspirin to spread the word to sports fans and heart health.

“Here’s a crazy stat I found: cheering for your home team doubles your risk of heart attack,” he said. “To all the fans out there — not to scare them, but — just to make sure you’re smart about how you treat your heart.”
