Next round of Covid boosters to start within days – are you eligible?

THE next round of Covid booster shots starts on Monday.

Five million high-risk Britons are eligible for a spring vaccine to keep them out of hospital.

Doctors will visit care homes from Monday April 3 and telephone and online bookings will open on Wednesday for those over 75 and those with weakened immune systems.

NHS Vaccination Director Steve Russell said: “We are learning to live with Covid but it is still very important for those most vulnerable to come forward and step up their protection.

“According to the latest data, around 8,000 people are still hospitalized with Covid.

“If you are over 75 or have a compromised immune system, please book a vaccination this spring so you can enjoy the summer with peace of mind.”

Figures from last week showed 1.7 million people were infected and cases were rising.

OAPs need to constantly replenish their immunity as it wears off faster than in younger people.

The booster offer – as well as all vaccinations for people in low risk groups – ends on June 30th.

Health Secretary Steve Barclay added: “It’s quick and easy and will provide the protection you need for months to come.”
