New signing Fayadh is hoping for a place in Harimau Malaya’s final squad

JOHOR BAHRU: Kedah Darul Aman (KDA FC) winger Muhammad Fayadh Mohd Zulkifli Amin is looking to capitalize on national coach Kim Pan Gon’s appointment to the national team’s centralized training camp.

Fayadh, 25, said he was aware he would need to be in his best physical condition to play against the more established players but added he hoped to repay the South Korean coach’s trust.

“From a physical point of view it will certainly be a tough competition because I will be up against stronger and more established players and many will have better physiques.

“I must admit that I am delighted to be called up for the first time. I’ll do my best to secure a place in the last squad,” he told reporters after training here at the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) training center today.

The Baling-born player added that he has to thank his KDA FC head coach Nafuzi Zain for helping him become a better player through his guidance.

“The important thing is that I have to do my best during central training and take the unique opportunity to try and secure a place in the final squad,” he said.

Fayadh was among 27 players called up by the South Korean coach for central training to prepare his side for two Tier 1 international friendly matches, on March 23 against Turkmenistan and on March 28 at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium against Hong Kong.

Other signings include Paulo Josue (Kuala Lumpur City FC), Endrick dos Santos (JDT FC), Nooa Laine (SJK Seinajoki), Muhamad Feroz Baharudin (JDT FC), Daniel Sang Ting (Sabah FC), goalkeeper Damien Lim (Sabah FC) and Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman (Negeri Sembilan FC). -Bernama
