New menu items in 5 local restaurant chains like CPK, Cheesecake Factory – Orange County Register

Fall is traditionally a season of plenty, and Southern California restaurants are responding with many new menu items. Innovations include a surprise debut at California Pizza Kitchen and a new concept of Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar.
Here’s what’s going on at five local full-service chains.
California pizza kitchen
The Playa Vista-based chain launched its so-called first burger on Oct. 4. The West Coast Burger is a Wagyu beef, chuck, and brisket blend, served with applewood-smoked bacon, cheese, and caramelized onions on a brioche bun, according to a press release.
CPK advertises the burger with a “pizza boycott”. Dine-in guests who spend over $20 and order anything other than pizza will receive a coupon for a 7-inch pizza to redeem on their next visit. You must become a CPK Rewards member to qualify and offer is one pizza per check. The promotion lasts until October 31st.

cheesecake factory
The Calabasas-based chain added more than a dozen items plus cocktails to its already lengthy menu in early September.
Appetizers and small plates range from street corn, asparagus fries, and ahi poke nachos to Bee Sting flatbread pizza made with honey. Appetizers include Lemon Herb Parmesan Chicken, Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, and Seared Ahi Tuna with Fried Ginger Rice.
Weekend brunch includes bacon and avocado benedict.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar
The Costa Mesa-based chain recently launched a new virtual concept called Roadtrip Bowls.
There are eight main courses with an international flair on the road trip menu. They range from a cheeseburger fry bowl with hamburger and fries with gravy to curried chicken and Korean ribeye bibimbap. Bowls can be delivered or picked up at Lazy Dog locations, but will be served in restaurants for a limited time during lunch hours, according to a press release.
The road trip menu also includes fries, onion rings, and pickled cucumber salad, along with desserts, handcrafted soft drinks, and canned craft beers.
Lazy Dog has another virtual concept, Jolene’s Wings & Beer.

Standards restaurants
This bluebell-based chain puts the spotlight on game-day foods like different flavors of chicken wings and St. Louis cut ribs.
The breakfast menu features Red Chili Mole served with steak omelettes or chorizo breakfast burritos. There are also “Top it Off” hotcakes, topped with Oreos, strawberries or chocolate chips.

Polly’s cake
According to a press release, this Placentia-based chain is offering half a dozen new items.
Starters include grilled Norwegian salmon; Asian Chicken Salad; Loaded Mac & Cheese with Chicken and Bacon; and Aunt Tu Tu’s Beef & Bleu, a sourdough bread sandwich with sliced prime rib and a homemade blue cheese dressing.
Appetizers include Southern Pimento Cheese Dip served with a sliced baguette.
Polly’s has also added IBC Root Beer to its soft drink menu.
