Zack Snyder obviously has his hands full with the two-part sci-fi epic for the time being rebel moonbut the proposed cinematic universe expanded Army of the Dead been awfully quiet for a while.
The filmmaker’s blockbuster zombie-action epic became one of Netflix’s most watched original films of all time when it first premiered and then as a prequel spinoff army of thieves came not too long after to deliver a double whammy of popular hits set in the same sandbox and couldn’t be more different.
In the episode, Snyder teased that more localized spinoffs might be on the way while a direct sequel was being dubbed Planet of the Dead has also been discussed, and it feels like an animated series Lost Vegas has been in development for ages without a single shred of footage or even a promotional image for it.
Ahead of the Super Bowl, however, Netflix made a surprise return to the devastated post-apocalyptic world, but some fans might be disappointed that it’s nothing more than a Will Ferrell car commercial.
Does Army of the Dead Do you even have enough niche appeal to Super Bowl audiences to make the crossover worthwhile? It’s probably a moot point, as Netflix will be happy to see its name slapped all over the year’s biggest televised sporting event, but at least it’s a reminder to everyone that the property is still valid, valuable, and hopefully up for more.
