Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher pledge up to $3 million in aid to Ukrainian refugees

Actors Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher have pledged up to $3 million in aid to displaced Ukrainians.

More than 1 million people have fled Ukraine in a rapid exodus already more than a week after Russia invaded and bombed key cities across the country.

The couple made their announcement in a Video posted to Kutcher’s Instagram account on Thursday.

“I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in 1983,” says Kunis in the video. “I came to America in 1991. I’ve always considered myself an American, a proud American. I love everything this country has done for me and my family. But today I have never been so proud to be a Ukrainian.”

“And I’ve never been so proud to be married to a Ukrainian,” added Kutcher.

Kunis continued: “The events in Ukraine are devastating. There is no place in this world for this kind of unjust attack on humanity.”

The people of Ukraine are strong and brave, but being strong and brave doesn’t mean you don’t deserve support.

Kutcher said he and Kunis are raising money for a “relief effort that will have an immediate impact and provide much-needed refugee and humanitarian assistance to the region.”

“The biggest challenge at the moment is the logistics. We have to create housing and we have to bring supplies and resources to the area,” he said.

Flexport organizes deliveries of necessary supplies to refugee camps in Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, while Airbnb provides free short-term accommodation for Ukrainian refugees, the couple wrote in their post.

Kunis and Kutcher join celebrity couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively in pledging earlier this week to provide up to $1 million in aid to displaced Ukrainians.

“The people of Ukraine are strong and brave, but being strong and brave doesn’t mean you’re not worthy of support,” Kunis said. “We have to support the people of Ukraine.”
