Michael Bisping says AJ McKee is trying hard not to be signed by Bellator

Michael Bisping recently shared his thoughts on AJ McKee not wanting to fight for less than $1 million in Bellator MMA.

The Bellator Featherweight Champion fought in the Bellator Featherweight Million Dollar Grand Prix Final in his last bout. He defeated Patricio Freire to become the 145 lbs division champion. However, the undefeated fighter stated that he wants the same amount of money for his next fights.

Bisping believes McKee is trying not to be re-signed from Bellator MMA and is trying to make a move to the UFC. Here’s what “The Count” said in a video recently uploaded to his YouTube channel:

“He certainly won’t be a Bellator Champion for much longer. Because he says all the right things to avoid being re-signed. He said, ‘I’m going to be a UFC champion. I’m not fighting for less than a million dollars. I want a refund.” Sounds a lot to me like an AJ McKee trying to not reinstate his contract so he can go somewhere else. That’s what it sounds like to me.”

McKee currently holds a professional record of 18-0. The 27-year-old has finished 13 of his 17 pro fights with six KO/TKOs and seven submission wins. ‘Mercenary’ captured the Bellator Featherweight Title when he defeated Patricio Freire at Bellator 263 in his final fight.

The rematch between McKee and Freire takes place this weekend at the Bellator 277. “Pitbull” is determined to regain his featherweight title. Losing to McKee was his first loss since 2016. The Brazilian is a former two-time Bellator featherweight champion and current lightweight king.

Both fighters successfully gained weight before their rematch. There will be another title fight on the Bellator 277 map. 205 lbs champion Vadim Nemkov will take on Corey Anderson in the final of the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix.
