Mega Millions swells to $1.1 billion after 3 month losing trend

from: The Associated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) – After nearly three months of lottery losses Tuesday night, will anyone break the trend and win a $1.1 billion Mega Millions jackpot?

Regardless of how long it takes, the odds of winning the lottery grand prize don’t change and they’re impressive at 1 in 302.6 million. But someone will eventually match all six numbers and win what is now considered the fifth largest jackpot in US history.

The drawing is scheduled for 11pm EST, but it usually takes a few hours to determine if there is a winner.

The $1.1 billion prize is for a winner who chooses a 30-payment annuity over 29 years. Winners typically prefer cash, which would be estimated at $568.7 million for Tuesday night’s draw.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states plus Washington, DC and the US Virgin Islands. Mega Millions swells to $1.1 billion after 3 month losing trend
