Maybank, UOB Malaysia provide emergency relief to customers affected by flooding

KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) provides flood assistance to individuals, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) and other non-retail customers affected by flooding.
In a statement, Maybank said the relief efforts are aimed at reducing the financial burden on customers affected by the floods.
“It includes deferring financing and loan repayments, reducing the monthly rate or extending the repayment period, and waiving fees and charges for select services, such as debit and credit card replacements and checkbooks lost or damaged during the floods.” , it was said.
At the same time, Maybank Islamic in cooperation with MERCY Malaysia has increased its efforts to help the flood victims by donating RM200,000 worth of zakat in support of the Asnaf community (those entitled to zakat or tithing).
In addition, the Maybank Foundation has allocated RM50,000 to purchase hygiene kits to be distributed to those affected by the floods.
Meanwhile, United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (UOB Malaysia) has announced repayment relief of up to six months for individuals, SMEs and corporate customers hit by the recent floods.
“The bank also offers further assistance, such as reducing the monthly repayment installments and extending the repayment period.
“As part of the relief program, UOB Malaysia is waiving certain fees and charges for replacing debit and credit cards or check books lost or damaged during the floods. The bank will also waive the fees for late credit card payments for affected customers.
Additionally, as part of its flood inconvenience, the bank has established a claims process for select bancassurance products, which is being adopted by its insurance partners to expedite claims processing. -Bernama
