Man Utd takeover update with club to invite bidders for further talks and insist sale is still possible

MANCHESTER United are set to invite potential bidders to MORE talks in the coming days – insisting a sale is still a possibility.
Doubts about the true intentions of the Glazer family were voiced after their bankers, Raine Group, opted for nearly two weeks of radio silence.

Both Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos have been left in the dark by the lack of contact since they submitted world-record £5bn bids last weekend of last month.
That has led to growing concerns that the Glazers may be more inclined to accept US hedge fund Elliott Management’s offer for a “small amount of share capital” that could see the club’s retail and merchandising division merged into a separate company is spun off.
But how serious the main bidders really are about getting close to their £6bn estimate is something the Glazers want to find out by inviting them to a further interview.
It seems the Glazers and Raine want to give Ineos and Sheikh Jassim one last chance to up their bids to a level where the deal can no longer be refused.
However, if an offer is not made at the right level, the sale could fail.
The family said they were “open minded” to their options.
It is understood the club’s co-chairs Joel and Avram Glazer are keen to stay at the club and would settle for a minority stake sale or an investment offer.
However, the other four siblings would rather cash in.

But the latest move could draw backlash from bidders.
They have hinted at their frustration, which they believe may have been “played out” by Raine and the Glazers in the four months since the possibility of a sale was publicly announced.
