Man seriously injured asleep in vehicle on south side

CHICAGO — A man who slept in a vehicle on the South Side was seriously injured Thursday morning.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting at the 8700 block of South King Drive.

Police said a 37-year-old man was sleeping in the passenger seat of a vehicle when an unidentified suspect opened fire. He was transported to Christ Hospital in critical condition.

There are no suspects in custody.
