Man fatally shot in Near North Side: police

CHICAGO — A man was fatally shot Sunday morning in Seward Park on the city’s Near North Side.

The 38-year-old man was on the sidewalk in the 300 block of West Division Street at around 5:22 a.m. when an unidentified person began to engage in a verbal altercation, police said. He then shot the man.

The 38-year-old man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead. Police say they compressed him as he was being taken to the ambulance.

There is nobody in custody

No further information was provided and police are still investigating.
