Man dies after being hit by vehicle in Glasgow city centre

The crash happened on George Street around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday.

The man was taken by ambulance to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died.

He was named as Christopher Hanton of the Chryston Borough.

His family issued the following statement: “Chris was a devoted and devoted husband to Lynne and a loving father to Zak with many friends and family. We are all really devastated.”

A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and appeared in Glasgow Sheriff’s Court on Monday.

Another report was submitted to the public prosecutor’s office.

Detective Inspector Sarah-Jane Finnigan said: “At this time our thoughts are with Christopher’s family and friends. We would ask that their privacy be respected as they process their tragic loss.”
