Man critically injured in semi-truck collision near Grand Haven

GRAND HAVEN TOWNSHIP, Michigan (WOOD) — A man was critically injured in an accident near Grand Haven on Monday.

It happened around 6 p.m. on US-31 near Buchanan Street in Grand Haven Township. A 25-year-old from Grand Haven was traveling south on US-31 when he rounded the corner of a semi-truck in the right lane, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said. It was said his car went off the road and crashed into a large tree, causing his car to catch fire.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, MPs said.

The sheriff’s office said the tractor-trailer driver, a 59-year-old man from Allegan, was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation.
