Man, 30, arrested on suspicion of murder after fatally assaulting him in Co Cavan – The Irish Times

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal attack on a home in Co Cavan.

Gardaí received reports the victim, in his 50s, was found unresponsive with serious injuries at around 9.15am on Thursday in Blacklion.

Despite medical intervention from Gardaí, he was later pronounced dead by paramedics. The body remains at the crime scene.

It is retained for review by the Garda Technical Bureau. The state pathologist’s office has been notified and an autopsy is being arranged for a later date, Gardaí said Thursday evening.

As a result of Garda investigations and follow-up inquiries, a man in his 30s was later arrested on suspicion of murder. He is being held at Castlerea Garda station in Roscommon under the Criminal Justice Act.
