He was released pending further investigation.
The road was closed for about four hours and 45 minutes while officers conducted their investigation into the accident.
It has since reopened.
Police have launched an investigation to clarify the full circumstances behind the alleged incident.
They have urged anyone with information or anyone who may have seen anything to come forward and speak to officers.
They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has dashcam footage of the area at the time of the alleged incident.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Although a number of people have assisted at this point, we would still be asking if there were any witnesses to the accident or any motorists with dashcam footage capturing the crash in order to get in touch with police.
“Please call officers on 101 and quote the reference number 1300 from Saturday April 1, 2023.”
