Malcolm McPherson Appointed Non-Executive Chairman of Hibernian

McPherson was previously the Cinch premiership team chairman between 1999 and 2002 and was nominated by the Gordon family, which owns the majority stake in the Hibees.

Kathrin Hamilton, who was appointed to the board by Ron Gordon in 2020, has been appointed vice chair.

Ian Gordon – Ron’s son and current head of recruitment at Hibs – has joined the board, as has Kit Gordon.

“I’ve had the privilege of knowing Ron as both a friend and fellow board member, so I’m proud that Kit and the wider Gordon family have placed their trust in me to continue to carry out Ron’s vision for the football club,” McPherson told the Hibs website.

“We will take the club forward with ambition and drive, just as Ron would have wished.

“Although it is a very difficult time for everyone at the club, we have an outstanding Board, Chief Executive, leadership team and great teams at both Easter Road and Hibernian Training Center so we can look to the future with absolute confidence, many Thanks in part to what Ron set up.”

A spokesman for the Gordon family added: “We are delighted that Malcolm has accepted our appointment as non-executive chairman of the club.

“Malcolm has a wealth of legal and business experience and has a real passion for this football club. He and Ron were incredibly close and shared a similar ambition and vision for Hibernian FC.

“He will make a great contribution to the club and will support the board and the board [chief executive] Ben Kensell in moving Ron’s plan forward.”
