Magnolia man shot dead as deputies respond to woman’s call about husband opening fire on her, Montgomery Co. Sheriff’s Office says

MAGNOLIA, Texas (KTRK) — A husband and wife are recovering in separate hospitals after deputies responded Monday to a Magnolia home where the woman alleges she was shot by her spouse, who was then wounded when the sheriff’s office arrived.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a call about 11:40 a.m. about a domestic disturbance involving a firearm at Block 30600 of Beyette Road, which is just off FM-1774

Dispatchers were told that the woman who made the call had been shot by her husband, the sheriff’s office said.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed a white man, later identified as a husband, on the porch with a rifle later determined to be a .308 caliber,” the MCSO said in a press release. “The man was ordered multiple times to drop the gun. The suspect refused and raised the gun towards the deputies.”

At that moment, the deputies “attacked with their guns”, opened fire and began beating the husband.

The deputies then took care of both the man and the woman. The suspect was taken to a hospital where his injuries are being treated.

The victim was taken to a separate hospital, where she is also being stabilized.

MPs stressed that it appeared to be a domestic disturbance and that there was no danger to the public.

MCSO is leading the investigation, but it says prosecutors and the Texas Rangers are also investigating the incident.
