MAF cares for flood-affected armed forces veterans: Adly

ALOR GAJAH: The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) will attend to the fate of their veterans who are currently being affected by flooding in several states.

Deputy Secretary of Defense Adly Zahari said his ministry will contact the Perbadanan Perwira Niaga (Pernama) under the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) to determine the actual number of veterans affected by the disaster.

“There are various programs (under Pernama) for military veterans, such as

“Pernama will provide allocations and we will direct the aid through veterans associations,” he told reporters after a back-to-school program by Tanjung Ratna Sdn Bhds Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, Pulau Sebang, here today .

Also present were Allan Chee, Chief Executive Officer of Tanjung Ratna Sdn Bhd and Datuk Alex Lau, Managing Director of A’Famosa Resorts.

A total of 200 first grade students from Alor Gajah Parliamentary Constituency received donations that included school bags, shoes, socks and stationery.

So far, three states, namely Johor, Pahang and Melaka, are still affected by the floods that hit the country recently.

A total of 45,302 flood evacuees are being housed in temporary flood relief centers across the three states. -Bernama
