Mae Muller confirmed as UK act

Singer-songwriter Mae Muller has been officially confirmed as the UK cast member for Eurovision 2023.

Zoe Ball has announced that Muller will represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest with her track “I Wrote A Song”.

The singer is best known for her US Top 10 hit “Better Days” and has previously toured with Little Mix.

“I’m SO excited to be entering the Eurovision Song Contest this year and representing the UK,” said Muller.

“I’ve loved watching Eurovision all my life so it’s just brilliant to be a part of such a big music competition.

“I’m a huge fan of so many artists who have been successful in the Eurovision Song Contest, from ABBA to Måneskin! Sam Ryder was so great last year and proved Britain can be on the left side of the rankings again.”

Mae Muller said she wrote the UK Eurovision 2023 track “when I was going through a tough time and wanted to feel empowered in terms of relationships”.

Mae Muller was selected for Eurovision by the BBC and TaP Music, the management company that helped select last year’s contestant Sam Ryder.

TaP said of Muller, “We were really struck by his powerful message – ‘songs as a form of therapy’ (a great message for the world’s biggest song contest!) alongside his playful tone and fast-paced, fun production.”

Rachel Ashdown, the BBC’s editor-in-chief for Eurovision, said: “Mae [Muller]The commitment and drive of representing the UK is undeniably clear and I am sure she will be a brilliant ambassador.”

Eurovision fans are excited.

Scott Mills will interview Mae Muller on BBC One at 20:55 on The One Show.

This year’s Eurovision takes place in Liverpool in May, with the UK hosting on behalf of last year’s winner, Ukraine.

The host line-up has already been announced and will include Hannah Waddingham, Alesha Dixon, Rylan Clark and Grand Final host Graham Norton.
