Lukie wants to score goals in Cambodia

PETALING JAYA: After her recent goal against Mongolia, U-20 national soccer player Nurfarisya Hanim Muhamad Zaki is aiming to score again in the 2024 Asian Cup qualifier in Cambodia from March 10.
Nurfarisya Hanim, affectionately known as Lukie, said she will try to find scoring chances to help the Malaysian Tigress become Group G champions against the hosts and Myanmar.
“My teammates and I already have a goal when we get there, we all really want to win, if I have chances to score I will score,” she told reporters after the Malaysian Tigress team’s final training session at the Association of Football field Malaysia (FAM) here, yesterday.
On March 3, the 19-year-old scored in a Tier 2 friendly against Mongolia at Kuala Lumpur’s football stadium in Cheras.
Coach Cameron Ng’s side defeated Mongolia 3-0.
Meanwhile, Lukie said that despite a short training period, she is optimistic the squad is well prepared for the qualifying round.
“We played three friendlies, are well prepared and will give 100 percent,” she said.
. According to Lukie, who previously played in right midfield, she accepted Cameron’s plan to play in defence.
She said it was no burden for her at all and was determined to prevent opposing teams from scoring against Malaysia.
Malaysia’s Tigress U-20 team travel to Cambodia today to take on the hosts in Group G on Friday, followed by Myanmar on Sunday at the Smart RSN Stadium in Phnom Penh.
Only the group champions advance to the second round. – Bernama
